Alium Spiritum

Be part of Brownsville's Virtual Hallelujah Chorus with Alium Spiritum and the UTRGV Choirs
DUE DATE: Monday, November 30

We are re-imagining the annual Messiah performance in Brownsville as an online event, sponsored by the Brownsville Society for the Performing Arts.  The artists of Alium Spiritum, with the Brownsville Festival Chamber Orchestra and the UTRGV choirs will be online in December with a concert that includes excerpts from Handel's Messiah with other holiday classics and guests poetry readers to help you celebrate the holiday season.  You are invited to be part of our performance of the Hallelujah Chorus which will be seen at the conclusion of the concert.
We invite all experienced singers, including past members of the Brownsville Festival Chorus, past and current BISD choral students and teachers, and UTRGV alumni to submit recordings of themselves singing their voice part.
You will need 2 devices to create your recording.
Device #1) smart phone with a working camera / microphone
Device #2) a computer, tablet, or second phone with headphones
Step 1: Put on a festive holiday sweater or red, green, black or white shirt/blouse.  Find a room with good lighting so your face is clearly visible.
Open the camera app on Device #1 (your phone), and make yourself visible from your elbows to the top of your head.
to record, you may also use the Flipgrid app/website, if you are familiar with that.  Click HERE to record using Flipgrid.
Test your phone microphone distance to avoid  distortion when you sing loudly.

Step 2: On Device #2 (a computer, tablet, or second phone), plug in your headphones, then play the video below that matches your preferred voice part. Begin recording your video on Device #1.  Sing along, doing your best to match entrances, releases, diction, and dynamics.  It may be best to listen once through, practice a few times, and then record.  Remember to use headphones so that we don't hear the guide track playing in your final video.
Sopranos
Altos
Tenors
Basses
Step 3: If you used Flipgrid, submit your video and you're done!  If you saved the video on your phone, upload it to Google Drive, iCloud, OneDrive, Dropbox, or any other file-sharing site and share a link with info@aliumspiritum.org.  If you need help, email Sean.Taylor@UTRGV.edu.
