Fotina Naumenko
Fotina Naumenko, soprano, has been praised for her “radiant voice” (Boston Globe), described as both “angelic” (Austin Chronicle) and “capable of spectacular virtuosic hi-jinks” (Boston Musical Intelligencer). Fotina enjoys performing a wide variety of vocal genres including oratorio, opera, art song, choral and contemporary music, both as a soloist and chamber musician.
Fotina has performed with celebrated orchestras including the Boston Pops (Sondheim on Sondheim symphonic premiere), the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra (J.S. Bach’s Ascension Oratorio and B Minor Mass), and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (Debussy’s Nocturnes III. Sirènes). Festival appearances have included the Ravinia Festival (Considering Matthew Shepard), the Constella Festival (From Russia with Love), the St. Olav Festival in Trondheim, Norway (Kim Arnesen’s Wound in the Water) and the Tanglewood Music Festival (Soprano Fellow, 2017 and 2018). Her performances of David Lang’s just and Castiglioni’s Cantus Planus at the Tanglewood Festival of Contemporary Music were hailed as “a beautiful performance” by the New York Times and “a stunner” by the Boston Globe. Fotina was a Resident Artist with the Indianapolis Opera in 2018.
Ensemble credits include Grammy® award-winning Conspirare, the Cincinnati Vocal Arts Ensemble, Coro Volante, and Grammy® nominated groups Skylark, Clarion and PaTRAM. Fotina won a Fulbright fellowship to St. Petersburg, Russia, and completed a post-graduate diploma program specializing in Russian vocal music at the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory. She has served on the voice faculty of Wittenberg University and is currently Assistant Professor of Voice at the Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, VA. Fotina is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music (Rochester, NY) and the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (Cincinnati, OH).
