Ricardo Diaz-Garcia
Praised for having “…excellent diction and a truly unique voice” (Front Row Reviewers). Ricardo Diaz-Garcia was last seen as a Festival Artist with Utah Festival Opera & Musical Theatre, where he performed the role of Sancho Panza in Man of La Mancha, and sang in their production of Mozart’s The Magic Flute and Bizet’s Carmen. In the 2021/22 season, Ricardo made his company debut with Opera Philadelphia singing in their production of Stravinsky’s Oedipus Rex. In late 2021, Mr. Diaz traveled to Switzerland where he made his European debut performing Gherardo and Rinuccio in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi with the Berlin Opera Academy. In 2020 during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, Ricardo was seen performing a virtual concert of arias for the Opera Fort Collins Guild. Other notable roles include: Tamino in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte; Ferrando in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte; Vladimir in Borodin’s Prince Igor; Julien in Charpentier’s Louise; Candide in Bernstein’s Candide; Henrik in Sondheim’s A Little Night Music. In film, Mr. Diaz makes an appearance in the 2021 documentary The Conductor,
performing the role of Street Singer in Bernstein’s Mass, under the baton of Marin Alsop. Ricardo Diaz-Garcia holds a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education from the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley. Mr. Diaz continues his vocal studies under international tenor, Arturo Chacón-Cruz.
